Blackboard Case Study

Blackboard, is a US-based company that spearheads the development of online-technology, data-driven insights and flexible solutions to expand access to education globally. The Blackboard platform is used by schools and universities around the world, to support the growing needs of educational institutions and students.

Their regional office, based in Dubai, UAE, appointed Global Event Management to run the inaugural Blackboard TLC MEA 2019 conference and gala dinner; held at The Conrad Hotel, Dubai on 11th, 12th and 13th March. Over 200 guests from the Middle East and Africa attended across the three days, who each uniquely benefited from the knowledge that was presented to them and encouragement to take part in the discussions and brainstorms.

A wide range of speakers and panellists provided their expert visions and understandings at the event, including; representatives from the US Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, CEO and President of Blackboard, American University of Dubai, Vaal University of Technology. As well as delegates from UAE University – Al Ain, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University – Saudi Arabia, King Faisal University – Saudi Arabia, American University of Cairo – Egypt, Pretoria University – South Africa, Kuwait University – Kuwait, Isik University – Turkey, Notre Dame University – Lebanon, and many more.

GEM provided an A-Z service of the event; from creative support, design, production, décor, staging and audio/visual to full on-ground implementation and management. The conference consisted of a main auditorium, to seat up to 250 guests, where keynote speeches, panel discussions and cinematic content was showcased on a 12m x 5m screen backdrop, six breakout rooms for intimate sessions, a large foyer area which housed the registration desk, ‘Knowledge Bar’ and chill-out zone with live-feed social media screens. As well as a ballroom; dressed and illuminated for the gala dinner; where the guests enjoyed international cuisine and live entertainment by the popular all-female band, Desert Roses.
