"Screamville" Halloween Event

The aptly titled “Screamville” event for adults took place on the 31st of October (in the same place that hosted the kids Halloween event the previous weekend). It was a true Halloween blowout, with a zombie hour, transformation station, photo opportunities and wickedly weird roaming performers. It was an experience of endless fear where all your nightmares come true and running was just the beginning for those who dared to enter “Screamville”. Muhahahahahahah! We loved setting up this event!

An impressively terrifying entrance set the scene to what was to be a satisfyingly spooky Halloween haunting. Guests got to experience ghosts, monsters, witches, zombies, gargoyles, bats, ghouls, haunted dolls, puppets, and sinister clowns. Tombstones and skeletons wrapped in eerie cobwebs provided the perfect backdrop for everything supernatural.

The special effects and lighting, animatronics, CGI, scent dispensers, fog machines, air blasters, old antiques, gory images, and intense sounds of terror, torment, crime, and mischief ensured everyone had a spooktacular Halloween!

Some of the gruesomely spooky walkabout performers included a headless royal guard complete with head in hand (the clear crowd favourite), a bellboy, a sinister nun, corpse bride, toy soldier, and a Dracula magician that entertained guests with his sleight of hand mastery. A Halloween “head in the hole” cut out face, old open coffin, and Halloween moon all provided the perfect backdrops for photo opportunities. GEM also organised a Halloween themed transformation station which offered guests an instant makeover and where they could be transformed into freaky Halloween monsters of their choosing.

The Zombie Hour was undoubtedly the high point of the evening, and what everyone was waiting for. Inspired by the famous TV series The Walking Dead, the zombie chase delivered thrill-seekers an unforgettably terrifying and heart-racing experience. When the clock struck 9pm, sirens could be heard, warning everybody of the massive apocalypse to take place. For one hour, the dead came alive to feed their starving cold bodies. They hunted and chased everybody in their sight, both to scare and amuse visitors.

All in all, a frighteningly fun evening for everyone who was there! We’re counting down to next Halloween already – and preparing to go bigger and better!
